On 9-10th of January 2020, at the Zhetysu State University named after I. Zhansugurov in Taldykorgan, as part of the `Winter School of pedagogical excellence`, for the faculty, undergraduates and Ph.D. students of the university the training events were held. The purpose of the event: improving the professional skills of the university faculty, preparing for the introduction of updated curriculum and innovative technologies in the educational process.
At the invitation of the university, the trainers of the branch of the Center of Excellence in Taldykorgan attended the Winter School. On the first day of the Winter school the trainer A.A. Oshakbaeva took part in the plenary part with a presentation on the topic: «The modern requirement of the time is to move from knowledge for life to long - life learning». The participants of the Winter School discussed the features of the transition to new standards in the context of continuing education in an open dialogue.
On the second day, the trainers of the branch of CoE G.B. Turekhanova, A.A. Oshakbaeva, R.B. Abisheva, K.E. Sauyrbaeva, L.V. Cherenkova, U.B. Temirgalieva and M.A. Sataev conducted the workshops on the topic: «The system of criteria-based assessment in the framework of the updated curriculum of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan». Over 90 university teachers attended the workshops.
The workshops were of a practical nature: the conceptual and organizational structures of the criteria-based assessment system were examined in detail. As part of the discussion of the criteria-based assessment model with teachers, they exchanged their opinions on the effective use of formative assessment in the context of learning graduate students of pedagogical specialties. In addition, teachers became more familiar with summative assessment in secondary schools.
The teaching staff, undergraduates and Ph.D. students noted the relevance and importance of these seminars in the context of teaching students of pedagogical specialties and supported the proposal for further interaction between the university and the Center of Excellence in order to work together to effectively prepare future teachers for successful school practice.
