The Chairman of the Board of AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools," Anuar Zhangozin, has stated that the current course "Effective Teacher: from teaching to research" will consist of four modules. Each module will focus on the most common priorities in modern education, such as global trends in world pedagogy, and practical tools for individual teachers.
The training program for our Azerbaijani colleagues commenced with an informative lecture given by Kulyash Shamshidinova, the Commissioner of the Asia Hub of the Global Commission on Education. Her talk delved into critical topics such as the impact of urbanization on education, the skills our future leaders must acquire, the current relationship between parents and children, the beginning of digital transformation in schools, and who designs a student's personal academic path. The foreign educators were highly interested in these issues, which are of great concern to educators worldwide.
The large-scale programme "Modern Teacher" is aimed at the development of reflective teaching through research practice, improvement of professional competencies in lesson planning and evaluation, expansion of actual pedagogical tools, and understanding of the main indicators of "Lesson study" and "Action Research". It is based on the National Curriculum of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the programmes of our Center "Effective Teaching" and "Research in Teacher's Practice", which have passed international certification. Successful CoE trainers Raushan Abisheva and Gulzhan Zeinoldina, who also passed international certification in the Council of Cambridge University, worked with Azerbaijani colleagues, - said the Director of the Center of Excellence Zhanbota Kabdykarimova.
In the two face-to-face training sessions in Astana and Baku, the priority topics were conceptual planning, school culture and child-friendly environment, motivational and affective theories, critical thinking, dialogic and inclusive learning, and functional literacy.
The professional accomplishments of Kazakhstani colleagues from the Center of Excellence which include a series of programme certified in the prestigious European Institute ACQUIN, successful implementation of "Lesson study" and "Action Research" in domestic education, and the upcoming hosting of the first traditional conference of the World Association of Lesson Studies WALS in the CIS next year - have generated great interest among Azerbaijani teachers.
Flora Aliyeva, Honored Teacher of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressed her excitement to see what her Kazakhstani colleagues had in store for them every day in Astana and Baku. Training at the Center affirmed her belief that the key to being a successful modern teacher is personal motivation.
Khuraman Babayeva and Oksana Aliyeva mentioned that "Modern Teacher" helped them update and organize their professional knowledge and skills. This led to a new chapter in their teaching careers in Astana, and a comprehensive upgrade of the pedagogical standards across Kazakhstan.
Foreign colleagues considered the invitation to the final day of the Astana module for the second national forum of young teachers "Zhas Ustaz: tabyskа aparar zhol" to be lucky.
During the forum, we were inspired by the passion and enthusiasm of the speakers and delegates. We are determined to bring this fire of inspiration to our schools. We learned that the key to success in professional development of teachers is through systematic work and taking the right steps towards achieving our goals. We are grateful to the Center for providing us with a solid foundation in our first few years.
The main gifts in the professional luggage, which Azerbaijani colleagues took away from Astana, were methodical portfolios Lesson Box, developed by the Center of Excellence.
The cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan has resulted in an expansion of the geography of CoE projects on the professional development of foreign teachers. Over the years, representatives from several regions of the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan have been awarded certificates from the Center of Excellence.
