Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted that last year the city was awarded the status of "spiritual capital of the Turkic world" and suggested calling Turkestan the "spiritual and historical capital" of the country.
Poet, an interpreter, member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan and trainer of the Center of Excellence NIS branch in Shymkent, Abay Kalshabek, also attended the meeting.
