From October 14, 2019 to October 17, 2019 at the Center of Excellence AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” for developers of educational programmes and trainers first stage of two “Phenomenon-based Learning (real phenomenon)” seminars was conducted by 2 experts from Finland.

Doctor David Marsh, the director on innovations and external networks of EduCluster Finland (University of Jyväskylä), is a leading scientist in an area of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and has huge experience on integrating innovative strategies into the educational system of Finland and other countries of the world. Doctor Jan Lundell teaches chemistry and methodology of teaching chemistry at the University of Jyväskylä, and actively works on promoting STE(A)M education in Europe as well.

In the framework of the seminar, developers studied Finnish experience of conducting Phenomenon-based Learning on the basis of STE(A)M. during the seminar, participants were provided by main approaches of applying Phenomenon-based Learning with active use of integrating subjects of natural-mathematics cycle.

Experts from Finland highly assessed organization and conduction of the seminar.

Doctor Marsh expressed his opinion as follows: “It was very easy to create innovative educational practices, since we had an opportunity to work with talented and enthusiastic specialists of the Center of Excellence. New ideas, new viewpoints and hot discussion were the key factors on expanding visions and opportunities of phenomenon-based learning. These days are the witness of the fact that incorporating different viewpoints can lead to high results for everyone”.
