15 апреля 2017 года в г. Астана был проведен семинар-практикум «Новые подходы в обучении и оценивании: от теории к практике»

With the purpose of advancing professional competence of primary school teachers in the context of updating secondary education content by the trainers of the Center of Excellence in April 15, 2017 the practical workshop «New approaches in learning and assessment: from theory to practice» was held.

The workshop was held on the base of 12 leading schools of Astana № 2, 4, 15, 16, 17, 22, 28, 38, 40, 69, 73, 84. More than 850 teachers of city schools as well as specialists and methodologists of Astana Department of Education took part in the activity.

In the first part of the workshop, which was in on-line mode, learning of primary school teachers in-service training courses and in the context of learning seminars and master classes conducted by the Center of Excellence was concluded. Furthermore, teachers received answers from the Center for Pedagogical Measurements about implementing criteria-based assessment, which were put in question during various meetings with teachers of Astana schools in March-April of the following year.

In the second part of the workshop, teachers of all comprehensive schools of Astana visited 144 lessons. The Grade 1 teachers of 12 leading schools prepared all lessons. Lessons were conducted on 10 disciplines of primary school. The learning process of the lessons differed from one another with variety of methods and techniques, which were to facilitate a development of abilities and skills of first-graders. Teachers skillfully demonstrated the application of different strategies of formative assessment.

In the final part of the workshop, trainers of the Center of Excellence organized the training «Effective lesson planning» for teachers of all comprehensive schools. Training participants were acquainted with different planning models during the process of group work, worked out principles and criteria of lesson audit, feedback and effective teaching.
